Celebrities On Canvas 2010 PDF Print E-mail

ROBERT BATEMAN
Mr. Bateman’s has been a generous supporter of Celebrities on Canvas for four years.

"I can't conceive of anything being more varied and rich and handsome than the planet Earth. And its crowning beauty is the natural world. I want to soak it up, to understand it as well as I can, and to absorb it...and then I'd like to put it together and express it in my painting. This is the way to dedicate my life."

COHEN, LEONARD

Mr. Cohen is a Canadian singer-song writer, musician, poet, novelist and artist. He is extremely well regarded by critics for this literacy accomplishment, for the richness of his lyrics and for producing an output of high artistic quality. His sold out performances are said to be stylish, energetic and sharp.

DEPPE, GORDON

Gord is the lead singer and guitarist for the 80’s new wave band “The Spoons”. The band opened for Culture Club, Simple Minds, and the Police. Some of their songs are, Romanic Traffic and Nova Heart. The Spoons are celebrating 30 years of music this year and will be releasing their new CD “Imprefekt” this fall.

JOHNSTON, LYNN

Lynn is the creator of the comic strip “For Better, For Worse” that was loosley based on her own families experiences. The strip follows John and Elly Patterson and their three children, Michael, Elizabeth and April. Lynn’s has two children Arron Micheal and Katherine Elizabeth.

MACMASTER, NATALIE

A wife and mother of 3 with another on the way, this Cape Breton-born fiddler needed something realistic to paint. She admits she’s not a painter but certainly has fun with it. Natalie enjoys drawing flowers and leaves.

NIENHUIS, KRAIG

Kraig is a musician and former NHL hockey player born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario. His band is called 9 House and plays internationally as well as some local venues.

PODLESKI, JANET AND GRETA

Sisters Janet and Greta are cookbook authors and host of Eat, Shrink & Be Merry on the Food Network. If Janet or Greta had the opportunity to draw anything other than stick people they would have loved to submit an original work of art. Their “Greatest Hits cookbook" is due out in September of 2011.

SILVAS, LINDA

This is the third year that Linda Silvas has generously donated to Celebrities on Canvas. She is an author, artist and an international speaker. She tours extensively as an advocate for those walking in the same path as some of her family members – namely substance abuse.

SMITH, MICHAEL

Michael is an award-winning cookbook author, newspaper columnist, roving Canadian cuisine ambassador, restaurant chef and home cook. He is a true chef-at-large and his favourite role is being a Dad in PEI with Rachel and their 5-year old Son, Gabriel.

SYLVESTER, KEVIN

Kevin is an award winning illustrator, writer and broadcaster. His new series “The Neil Flambe Capers” is about Neil who is a 14 year old super-chef from Vancouver. He helps solve mysteries with the Vancouver Police. Super-chef Gordon Ramsay calls the series “Good Fun”. Kevin is also a broadcaster for CBC Radio.
